Lake Lilies started with looking straight down at the water while kayaking. The lily pads sit on the surface while the whole sky reflects back underneath them.
I loved the contrast of those bright, electric greens against the dark water. The little white bud just opening in the middle felt like the whole point. Oil on canvas let me build the depth of the water while keeping the pads sharp and vivid on top.
